Ben Evans has recently been announced as the Lib Dem candidate to represent Churchdown on Gloucestershire County Council.
Following the sad loss of Cllr Jack Williams, who represented Churchdown between 2016 and 2019, there will be a by-election on 2 May - the same day as borough council elections.
After a brief selection process, Ben Evans was chosen to run for the Liberal Democrats.
On the selection, Cllr Paul Hodgkinson, group leader for Gloucestershire Liberal Democrats, said:
"We are absolutely delighted to have Ben running to represent Churchdown. Ben is passionate about helping young people reach their full potential, as a youth worker and managing director of Gloucestershire Mentoring and Support.
"I cannot think of a better candidate to continue Jack's legacy and am looking forward to working with Ben on improving Gloucestershire's youth service provision."
Speaking after his nomination was confirmed, Ben said:
"Working with young people I am passionate about helping them to achieve their goals, and critical to this is improving the facilities available to them. I cannot wait to get my teeth stuck into holding this administration to account on the issues I see day in day out.
"Living in Churchdown, I believe that local people need to represent themselves and those around them; as such would be honoured to represent this fantastic village. If you don't know who to support in May, please consider giving me your support!"
