Gloucestershire Care Services Trust have announced that a review into Cirencester and Stroud Hospital's Minor Injuries Units (MIU) will be undertaken.
Three proposals have been put forward all of which will mean that the overnight services at both hospital's Minor Injuries Units will close. We believe that this will put further pressure on Gloucester, Cheltenham and Swindon hospitals and our ambulance service. The move will adversely impact vulnerable people and those who don't have their own transport.
One of the NHS' founding principles is that healthcare is accountable to the public, communities and patients. Our community now needs to show that this is a vital service to our community that should be kept.
Please support my campaign to keep Cirencester MIU open overnight in order to continue the excellent service provided to the 20,000 residents in Cirencester and the local area.
We the undersigned ask that Gloucestershire Care Services, Gloucestershire Clinical Commissioning Group and Gloucestershire County Council ensure that a 24 hour local urgent care service is provided at the Minor Injuries Unit at Cirencester and Stroud Hospitals in order to meet local need, avoid long waits and reduce pressure on Emergency Departments.
