PPE for Gloucestershire's care givers

It is critical that PPE is made available for all those on the frontline, including all those who work in adult social care, either in care homes or those making home visits.

Interacting with our county’s vulnerable residents without protective equipment, in situations where limiting social interaction is not possible, is dangerous both for those receiving care as well as the care givers and their families.

Cllr Iain Dobie, the Lib Dem spokesperson for adult social care, said “Every day, myself and council colleagues are hearing reports of a lack of PPE equipment for frontline care staff, and the risks that they are forced to take to look after vulnerable residents.  The distribution of equipment to care givers is of critical importance, and every avenue must be explored to ensure our council workforce or contractors, and the people they support, are protected.

“We welcome the recognition the government has given to these issues; however we need action now for lives to be saved.  We will be working with Conservative colleagues in Shire Hall to highlight this concern at the highest possible level and to make sure Gloucestershire is given all the necessary tools to tackle this virus.”
